Aminul Islam Raju | Exploring Maheshkhali & Beyond

Exploring Maheshkhali was an absolute dream, filled with breathtaking views and unforgettable memories that will stay with me forever. Visiting the serene Adinath Temple atop the hill brought a deep sense of peace, perfectly blending ancient architecture with lush green surroundings. Standing at the Maheshkhali Jetty, feeling the cool ocean breeze and watching the gentle waves roll in, offered a magical escape from everyday life. To top it all off, wandering through the mesmerizing landscapes of "Mini Kashmir" felt like stepping into a hidden paradise right here in Bangladesh. Every moment spent taking in the unique harmony of hills, sea, and nature made this journey truly special. This trip was more than just a getaway—it was a soulful connection with nature’s finest creations. I am leaving Maheshkhali with a full heart, beautiful pictures, and a treasure trove of moments I will cherish forever.

Aminul Islam Raju’s Expedition: Exploring the Matarbari Power Plant & Moheshkhali Energy Hub

Visiting the mega projects across Moheshkhali and Matarbari—recognized as the nation’s largest energy hub—was a truly remarkable experience. Situated along the coast of the Bay of Bengal, the 1,200 MW Matarbari Ultra-Supercritical Coal-Fired Power Plant, developed with financial support from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), stands as a groundbreaking milestone in the power sector and a shining example of modern engineering. The newly excavated artificial deep-sea channel alongside the offshore floating LNG/LPG terminals at Moheshkhali serves as a critical lifeline for national energy supply and gas distribution. Once a serene island famed primarily for salt cultivation and betel leaf farming, Moheshkhali has rapidly transformed into a pivotal economic and energy corridor. Witnessing these massive industrial structures against the backdrop of the open sea made this journey both thrilling and inspiring, capturing a firsthand glimpse of modern infrastructure and national development.

Aminul Islam Raju’s Frames with History: Echoes of the Past at the DIT Building

Standing before this time-worn structure near Motijheel is a humbling encounter with Dhaka’s modern architectural heritage. Established in 1956, the Dhaka Improvement Trust (DIT) laid the very foundation of today's planned urban sprawl, steering major early municipal projects before transitioning into RAJUK (Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha). Today, this historic edifice, weathered by the decades and gracefully reclaimed by creeping vines, banyan roots, and lush greenery, stands as a silent witness to the capital's rapid evolution. Posing against its aged walls and sunlit ruins felt like stepping through a quiet corridor of time, where every faded brick tells a story of ambition, change, and timeless endurance amidst the bustling modern city.

Aminul Islam Raju’s Journey: Crossing History & Serenity at Badarkhali Bridge

Visiting the Badarkhali Bridge, which connects Chakaria with the offshore island of Moheshkhali, was a truly remarkable experience blending history with the serene beauty of nature. For generations, the people of Moheshkhali relied solely on hazardous wooden boats and ferries across the Matamuhuri River estuary to reach the mainland, until the landmark construction of this bridge in 2008 permanently reshaped the region's connectivity, trade, and history. Standing on this expansive structure, overlooking the shimmering silver waters and distant fishing trawlers, offers a firsthand glimpse into how modern engineering transformed the lifeline of these coastal communities. Especially during the late afternoon, the invigorating river breeze combined with the soft glow of twilight washing over the calm waters instantly sweeps away all exhaustion, leaving behind an unforgettable memory etched in time.

Aminul Islam Raju's Journey: Misty Trails of Alikadam & White Peak Station

Whispers of the Matamuhuri: Days & Nights Across Lama, Alikadam & White Peak Station

Mountains have a quiet rhythm of their own, one completely lost in the rush of city life. To chase that untamed cadence, our journey led us toward Lama and Alikadam in Bandarban. Our pathfinder was the historic Matamuhuri River—the lifeline of this hill tract for generations. As our boat carved through the emerald ripples of the river, flanked by towering green slopes and drifting clouds, it became clear that the days ahead would linger in our memories forever.

The Wild Trail & the Icy Cascade

Diving deeper into the heart of Alikadam, the real adventure kicked in with the trek to the mountain waterfall. Navigating muddy paths, slick boulders, and babbling stream beds, we were finally greeted by a sheer, roaring cascade slicing through the cliffside. The mist hanging in the cool mountain air wiped away hours of exhaustion in a single breath. Stepping into the ice-cold plunge pool beneath the falls was an instant revival—a moment of raw, untamed connection with nature that made every worldly worry fade into the background.

Magical Nights at White Peak Station Resort

After the day’s high-energy thrills, we retreated to White Peak Station Resort. As twilight gave way to deep night, the resort transformed into something truly magical. The valley below vanished into darkness, leaving distant hillside lights flickering like a mirror to the stars above. Wrapped in the steady hum of crickets, crisp mountain drafts, and passing wisps of fog brushing the balcony, time simply stood still. With steaming cups of tea and coffee in hand, the late-night conversations here were unmatched.

The Warmth of Good Company

Even the most rugged trail turns effortless with the right crew. Throughout this expedition, having my uncle Md Forhad, close brother MH Babu, along with all my other uncles around turned every hurdle into pure joy. Lending a hand on slippery rocks, sharing hearty laughs by the water, and unwinding together at the resort created a bond that went far beyond an ordinary holiday.

Just like the Matamuhuri flows steadily to the sea, these memories remain carved deep within. The footsteps we left on those misty peaks and the laughter shared will stay timeless

Aminul Islam Raju's Coastal Escapade: Chasing Waves at Matarbari

The vastness and rhythmic roar of the ocean always fill the soul with peace. Today, I had an amazing time exploring the pristine Matarbari Sea Beach in Maheshkhali. The salty sea breeze, crashing waves, and endless blue horizon were truly breathtaking. Walking along the quiet shoreline away from the city noise felt incredibly refreshing. Standing by the beach, all the tiredness just melted away into the open waters. Soft sand beneath my feet and continuous waves ahead—time almost stood still. Matarbari Beach holds a unique charm, blending serenity with raw natural beauty. These moments spent so close to the ocean will always remain close to my heart. There is simply no better way to recharge than listening to the melody of the sea. If you love tranquil beaches, Matarbari is definitely a place worth visiting!

Aminul's Matarbari Chronicles: A Day Out in Nature..

Escaping the daily hustle for a quiet moment under the overcast sky. Today’s journey took me to the scenic beauty of Matarbari in Maheshkhali. Walking through the lush greenery with a cool coastal breeze was an incredible experience. Holding an umbrella and wearing sunglasses, I truly enjoyed nature's charm despite the rain. The vastness of the power project combined with the serene environment felt surreal. On one side stood vibrant green bushes, while the soft sky stretched overhead—a perfect view. Travel always recharges our mind and helps us look at life with fresh perspective. Spending time so close to nature was deeply refreshing and peaceful. This trip to Matarbari will remain a memorable chapter in my travel diary. If you get a chance, you should definitely visit this beautiful place!
